ZTE Spro Plus is a laser projector turned full-fledged tablet
ZTE has introduced the Spro Plus, an Android 6.0-powered “smart projector”, combining the functions of a projector, smartphone, mobile hotspot, and USB battery. It also supports Bluetooth, which means users can pair it with a Bluetooth controller and use it for gaming.
ZTE really wants the Spro Plus to be “second most used device after your smartphone”, which helps explain why it’s tried to cram so many features into the box. Adam Zeng, ZTE Mobile Devices Chief Executive Officer, said this on the new device: “The Spro Plus is ZTE Mobile Devices’ latest example of igniting digital life with imagination”. The Spro Plus also has video conferencing capability with an external camera and two four watt JBL speakers. Placing the Spro Plus 2.4 meters away from any surface will project an image up to 80 inches across. The 12,100 mAh battery on the Spro Plus is almost twice as large as that of the Spro 2, but for good reason – it needs to power a much larger and much higher resolution display and a laser projector that is expected to have slightly more draw than the older LED projector. “This allows our users to have unlimited business and entertainment opportunities”. Because it has built-in wi-fi and optional 4G LTE users can stream videos or movies from Netflix, Youtube, or anything from the Google Play Store. Keystroke correction allows projectors to create a rectangular image even if they are not placed perpendicular to the projected screen. Its autofocus keeps the image sharp and clear. It has the ability to detect voices more than five meters. We don’t have the exact measurements, but it weighs around 1 kilogram, and is sized like a 10-inch tablet (albeit a very fat one).
The device will be available globally by summer 2016, according to the company.
ZTE is one of the global leaders in the mobile handset manufacturing industry in the world, offering a complete range of mobile devices, including mobile phones, tablets, mobile broadband modems and hotspots and family desktop integration terminals.
