ZUK Z1 will run Cyanogen OS 12.1 when it launches internationally
The Lenovo backed ZUK Z1 worldwide version will be running on Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is a powerful, fast OS customized for the Z1 with various advanced features especially optimized for performance, privacy, security and power consumption.
According to the company’s Google+ page, “Cyanogen is excited to be the OS for ZUK’s Z1 worldwide version!”
While the ZUK Z1 that launches internationally will be largely similar, including its specs and packaging, there will be one big difference between it and the Chinese version. “Be on the lookout for the Z1 in mid-October!” the post read. OnePlus has since come out with its own modified versions of Android.
In order to take on online-exclusive brands like Xiaomi, Lenovo launched a new brand called ZUK in China earlier this month. With the use of the Cyanogen OS on the increase in recent times, Cyanogen has claimed that it now has a total of over 50 million users.
The day before, Cyanogen announced its involvement with the Z1 smartphone.
That phone, the OnePlus One, went on to gain its own loyal fan base and win critical acclaim.
The ZUK Z1 features a 5.5 inch FHD screen, and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor.
ZUK is getting ready for the Z1’s availability to spread to additional markets and has released an official statement.
Moving to the camera, it comes with latest generation 13MP rear camera with a resolution of 4160 x 3120 and LED flash, 5MP of front facing camera. The smartphone costs about $280 in China, but its global price will be a bit higher, most probably around $330.
In addition, the key features of the device as revealed by ZUK include 4G-capable, support for Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner and Wi-Fi. It packs a large 4100mAh battery and will be available in White and Grey colours.
