Zuma’s addresses ANC ‘ill-discipline’
The National General Council passed resolutions on many issues including housing, education, health, worldwide relations, the economy and elections.
Discussions of a third term for Zuma has surfaced in various structures of the ANC.
The party is due to choose a new leader in 2017, with the battle seen as likely to be between deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa and Zuma’s ex-wife and current African Union Commission chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
“Even if they beg me I won’t stand”, he said.
In 2015, the ANC is meeting following the succesful completion of both the ANC Women’s League and ANC Youth League conferences.
“In the third National General Council held in Durban we had 649 000 members”.

Mokonyane said the responsibility of membership records should not lie only with people who are in positions because that could lead to processes being manipulated.
Mantashe says this doesn’t relate to President Jacob Zuma’s situation in 2005, when he was charged, because he did step down and the NGC made a decision to reinstate him.
There have been concerns that the integrity commission, set up as part of resolutions taken at the 2012 Mangaung elective conference, is a toothless organ for apparently failing to take action against members charged with corruption, among other transgressions.
The party said the commission will not only deal with criminal matters but also members’ conduct, among other things, and will make disciplinary rulings.
The ANC is anxious about the growing number of mass protests in the country, which it says could opportunistically be used by a few forces to stage a regime change similar to North Africa’s Arab Spring.

Prior to the NGC, crucial trade partners such as the United States urged the South African government to remove certain sections of the bill, particularly the clause requiring foreign-owned security companies to sell at least 51 percent of their businesses to locals.
The ANC wants to target metros, with Cape Town topping the list, ahead of the elections.
The report suggests the ANC’s electoral support has been declining since the 2004 elections.
He noted that party membership had plummeted by about a quarter in the past three years, from more than a million to about 770,000.
Earlier this year, government failed to implement a demand from a High Court that Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir be arrested in South Africa.

It’s been recommended that more of the official languages be taught to South Africans as the party grapples with creating cohesion.
She said branches should be at the forefront of government programmes.
