November Xbox One Update brings Xbox 360 game support
Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is among the new features included in November’s Xbox One update. Microsoft still isn’t ready to start pushing its Windows 10 Xbox One Update to the millions of Xbox One entertainment consoles in homes, but it is finally telling users how they can get in on the update early. Those that have provided the most feedback in the program will be let in first as Microsoft expands the preview out to more and more members.
Over 100 Xbox 360 games will be available at launch, and more will be added in the following months. You can share with the Xbox Live community, check what games your friends are playing and access to Game Hubs to get updates from the developers and community.
“At Xbox, we put games and gamers at the center of everything we do”. From that invitation users will need to go into the Xbox Preview Dashboard on their console and accept registration for the New Xbox One Experience Preview.
Microsoft has improved the Home screen by introducing a faster, easier interface with access to recently used apps and games. You’ll be able to see what’s happening in the Xbox community, and what your friends are up to as soon as you power up. You’ll be able to see friends, parties, settings, notifications, and messages all while in game. Featured movies, shows and videos from your various apps will likewise be highlighted. TV Shows with the highest views and moments on Xbox will appear on trending list, while picture-in-picture mode has been added for simultaneous viewing.
OneGuide is being revamped to be a destination for TV, movies, and video. The update will also redesign the Xbox One Store to make games easier to find. It may or may not help Xbox One make gains against its direct competition Sony Corporation’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, but it will definitely allow its owners to expand their game library.
Because of the significance of this update, Microsoft is giving Xbox One preview members the opportunity to decide if and how they want to participate in helping release the New Xbox One Experience. This will not remove you from the Xbox Preview Program.
As usual, the tech giant are planning to slowly roll out the feature to Xbox One Preview Program members to help test it before release. Backwards compatibility, more community options and of course, a user interface that doesn’t look like a cat litter tray which hasn’t been cleaned for several weeks.
