We made Surface Book. Could this be the answer to Apple’s MacBook Pro? These are the first phones from Microsoft to run the Windows 10 Mobile operating system out of the box and pack impressive hardware like Octacore processors (chips with eight processor cores) and liquid cooling. But you can attach the screen from the keyboard and just it as a tablet, if you want.

Microsoft did not provide any stats for its claim but did have Panay play Gears of War on stage from the Surface Book.

It’s a silver metallic laptop because it’s housed in a magnesium body. Yup, they do sound like the same thing coming from different angles. It also features a unique “dynamic fulcrum” hinge that flexes as it bends.

If it’s fully closed, it leaves an awkward gap. However, expect it to rock a bigger display, a new keyboard as well as the fingerprint scanner element and Windows Hello.

The Lumia 950 has USB Type-C port at its base and charges quickly. Its keyboard is backlit and provides a silent typing experience, while the glass trackpad beneath it has five points of touch sensitivity.

Aside from this the latest buzz also claims that the Microsoft Band 2 is now doing the rounds of online forums and might too soon announce the commercial launch of Microsoft’s Holo Lens.

Other Surface Book goodies include a high-resolution 3,000×2,000 display, 8GB of RAM, two full-size USB 3.0 ports, up to 12 hours of battery life, and a Surface Pen. Storage goes all the way up to 1TB and you can get 16GB of memory to go with that Intel 6th-gen processor.

Microsoft also said its new tablet will come with Windows Hello, an automatic biometric sign-in option introduced earlier this year.

Then again, it’ll still depend on how you use it.

Microsoft also takes a dig at the Apple by stating their latest tablet is twice as fast as the MacBook Pro. Microsoft executive Panos Panay calls the Surface Book “the ultimate laptop” and the “thinnest and most powerful PC ever created”.

Microsoft Band 2, which allows users to monitor their fitness and exercise regime, will be priced at $249 when it becomes available on October 30.

The exact date and pricing in the United Kingdom is yet to be confirmed, but the Surface Book can be pre-ordered from October 7 in the US.

Microsoft emphasized how quiet the keys on the laptop would be.
