New Apple TV will arrive in stores in October
CNET has reported that Apple TV users can easily access the titles that are stored within the device by talking to Siri – Apple’s famous digital personal assistant.
The new Apple TV also is taking on living-room game consoles from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Nintendo (OTCPK:NTDOY) and Sony (NYSE:SNE). Apple clearly has turned Siri into the centerpiece of the new Apple TV. That may, in time, include an Apple Internet TV streaming service, though for now those plans have taken a backseat to their new device.
The new OS features a UI with a white background rather than the standard black background, which makes it more visually appealing to the user.
The new Apple TV is expected to become available this October, with a $149 price tag.
So if you don’t live in one of the eight countries, pressing the microphone button on the new controller will “open the onscreen search app”.
But the coolest new feature ensures you’ll never miss a line in that TV show or movie you’re watching.
The online video box, Apple TV, is redesigned to include a new operating system, working with Apple’s Siri voice recognition search and control engine and around entertainment applications, or apps. “We believe the future of television is apps”, Apple CEO Tim Cook said. It looks like Apple wants to step into the gaming industry business with the new Apple TV and has most of its focus on game apps. The upgraded Apple TV comes with an A8 processor that enables gaming, as well as a power/Ehternet/HDMI port combo, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. It also simplifies how you can select or browse through content on the Apple TV.
tvOS supports key iOS technologies including Metal, for detailed graphics, complex visual effects and Game Center, to play and share games with friends, he adds. Instead of an iOS-based software that we have used in Apple TV till now, there is a completely new operating system called tvOS.
The biggest hardware shake-up is the remote. The new Apple TV’s remote features Siri, so users can search with their voice for TV shows and movies across multiple content providers simultaneously. However, with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus you can use “Hey Siri” whether or not your device is plugged in or not.
