IOS 9 is here, but many users are having trouble downloading it
And plenty of people are already finding trouble with this update.
Dowd reported the vulnerability to Apple and the company will include a mitigation for it in iOS 9, due out Wednesday. The new mobile operating system has been installed on 18 percent of all qualified devices. “They don’t have to open it”.
Apple store employees told disappointed customers that engineers were working 24/7 to fix the issues. Anyone in range of a target device with the feature enabled could plant malware on the phone or PC, even if the victim didn’t tap “accept” for the offered file. After gaining access, the attacker would then wait until iPhone next rebooted and begin implanting malware. What will happen if you upgrade?
Once the malicious app is installed, there are limited things it can do thanks to Apple’s carefully sandboxed or “closed” environment.
Today, September 16, Microsoft is making the Send for Android preview available to users in USA , Canada, the United Kingdom , Brazil and Denmark. The new OS is better, faster, more efficient and more capable than its predecessors, and you need to install it right away.
Don’t be fooled by that either: the update won’t actually take up 1.3GB of space on your phone when all is said and done. For iPhones this would be today’s release of iOS 9. Since Bluetooth and Airdrop can be toggled on without the phone being unlocked by simply sliding from the bottom of the screen up to reveal the control panel, this places them at continued risk of attack.
Perhaps the most important feature of iOS 9 is a proactive Siri. We would strongly recommend you update your device to protect against Airdrop/Bluetooth attacks.
