Carly Fiorina surges forward in Republican presidential race
I heard a lot of “repealing” and “tearing up” but not much “drafting” and “implementing”, Scott said. “Ready?”
The latest tally shows former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina dramatically cutting into Trump’s early lead for the GOP’s 2016 presidential nomination. Please don’t take a walk with me. “I think it’s the same thing as attacking me for my record as speaker”, he said. “My name’s Snick and you’re going to have to carry me”.
Appearing on NBC’s “The Tonight Show”, Fiorina told host Jimmy Fallon that her opponent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, was “wrong” to suggest he would not support a Muslim presidential candidate. And as Fallon reminds, this is a show where “silly” lives.
“You’ve met Putin?” Fallon asked Fiorina.
CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Fiorina during the debate, “Last week in Rolling Stone magazine Donald Trump said the following about you. What I would do is immediately begin rebuilding the sixth fleet, I’d rebuild the missile defense program in Poland, I’d conduct regular military exercises in the Baltics, I’d put a few thousand more troops into Germany”. “But, she’s very good with words, and I think when people see her deeds and see her mean-spiritedness, she won’t be on the top anymore”.
Fallon clarified, “so you’d be fine with that?” Almost half of Republicans in the poll said they had watched all or some of it. Viewership did not quite reach the level of the Fox News August debate, and Republican viewers were less likely to approve of the way the CNN moderators handled the questions than they were evaluating the Fox moderators.
On her rise from secretary at a small real estate firm to corporate executive to now-presidential candidate, Fiorina said, “It’s only possible here”, but added that she believed that isn’t the case now.
She also took several jabs at current GOP front-runner Donald Trump, including comparing him to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“It’s a rounding error for him when it comes to what he makes on everything, so I want somebody who actually knows the issues, it’s not about the money, said another man”.
Enjoying a surge in popularity after a commanding performance in the most recent Republican debate forum, Fiorina played it mostly straight, using her brief late night appearance to address her improving standing in the crowded field of GOP candidates.
Meanwhile, Fiorina soared to second place.
She spoke with startling candour at Wednesday’s debate about the death of her stepdaughter to drug addiction and the need for better treatment, revealing a painful episode that many people watching were unaware of: “My husband, Frank, and I buried a child to drug addiction”.
