Benghazi panel chair: Clinton subpoena claim inaccurate
Clinton stonewalled the issue for a while, but has since given the State Department the OK to release her email traffic while she was secretary.
After which, Devine said, “I think it just builds”. You can watch her comments in full context here.
When Chris Cuomo, host of CNN’s “New Day” accused Sanders (I-Vt.) of “twisting” the Republican’s words, saying Bush meant to lament the lack of full-time jobs in the current economy, Sanders agreed. But she didn’t lie about the subpoena. Jensen, the director of Public Policy Polling, told Business Insider that most recent polls put the former Secretary of State’s support among African-American voters at around 70-80%. But as I glanced through the rest of the bullet items in NBC’s First Read this morning, there was one thing which jumped out at me.
That drew a rebuke from Trey Gowdy, the GOP chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, who said the need to “correct the inaccuracy” led him to break with his practice of not releasing subpoenas the panel has issued.
However, as usual, it’s not so simple, for several reasons.
“People should and do trust me”, she said, blaming the “barrage of attacks that are largely fomented by and coming from the right” for fuelling such a perception.
“Today we learned that Jeb Bush’s Super PAC raised over $100 million in a few months”, the Vermont senator said.
“We’re just generally, even by national standards, more conservative in this state”, Felkel said. Then after Bernie, she could be our (no fake) leader. They sharpened their defenses of her record as secretary of state.
False, a number of Clinton’s staffers were also using personal email that of course, went to Clinton’s personal server.
Keilar seized on this, a possible story – “Hillary Favors Female Face On 20, Not 10-Dollar Bill”.
She also asked reporters, “Do you think it’s the most important issue to be talking about as a presidential candidate?” “There’s nothing, again. Let’s take a deep breath here”. Last, when asked her favorite ice cream flavor, she replied, “I like almost everything”. “She has not been clear on that”. But from what we know, Clinton was not facing a subpoena when the emails were deleted; she was only subpoenaed months later by the House Republicans. In 2014 she turned over 55,000 pages of email to the State Department and wiped the rest from the server – a point of contention in the Benghazi investigation and with advocates for government transparency. “She has to articulate a path forward for folks much better than the message has gotten out so far”.
But, at the time, Hillary Clinton had them.
Two days after that, on March 4, the Benghazi Committee issued their subpoena to Clinton.
These statements are in addition to others Clinton made least year at a June 17 townhall meeting, in which she claimed gun owners “terrorize the majority of people“. The official subpoena didn’t come until March 2015.
“I’ve never had a subpoena”, Clinton said during the interview while responding to a question about deleting some 30,000 of her emails. In addition to transparency, she is glad people are “getting a laugh” from some of the emails.
