Trump fires back on ‘no win situation’ over man’s Obama comments
“I think they are great people“, said the prospected president of the U.S. , while responding to a question if Muslims were an hazard to the state.
“If it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter”, he clarified.
Ted Cruz and Rick Satorum refused to criticize Trump and also kept their silence when asked if they believe if President Obama is a Christian.
The question about faith was in response to another controversy surrounding Donald Trump.
“No I do not”. Tapper continued questioning Trump about the fact that Trump did not interrupt the gentleman who said, our President is a Muslim.
The candidate said he would have “absolutely no problem with it”.
Carson added that voting for a Muslim for a position in Congress “is a different story”, and it depended on who the Muslim was and his or her policies.
He further tweeted: “If I would have challenged the man, the media would have accused me of interfering with that man’s right of free speech A no win situation!”
Monday morning, campaign spokesman Doug Watts said that Carson had reached out to the Muslim community to explain himself, noting that he hadn’t said “that a Muslim should be prevented from running, or barred from running in any way – he just doesn’t believe the American people are ready for that”.
“We have radicals that are doing things”, Trump said on “State of the Union” broadcast on CNN. “I think you’ll be very surprised”.
Trump replied to the supporter by admitting that indeed there were some issues and that, if elected, he would look into them.
Mr Trump helped fuel a “birther” movement in 2011 by repeatedly demanding Mr Obama prove he wasn’t born in Kenya. I don’t get into that, George. Certainly what’s happening with some Muslims and, you know, the terrorism and everything else, it seems to be pretty much confined there.
“That’s where it began”, Trump said Monday on Fox News. “Is he going to defend me?’ And I can tell you emphatically that the answer is no”, said Trump in response to why he didn’t defend Obama when a supporter at his town hall meeting in New Hampshire last week called the president a Muslim. “You do have an individual problem where you do have some radicals that are having problems”, Trump said Monday on NBC’s “Today Show”.
