Office 2016: Microsoft begins worldwide roll-out of applications
But, with the apps just the latest addition to Microsoft’s Office 365 cloud-based subscription service, will Kiwi resellers reap any returns? The productivity suite includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Project, Visio and Access.
Other secured services such as OneDrive online storage, Skype for Business, Delve, Yammer – a social media app meant for the enterprise market – are combined to work seamlessly on MS Office.
For Office 2016 for Mac, Microsoft redesigned its apps with new interfaces in line with its flagship Windows software.
To coincide with the release of the new software, Microsoft has raised prices of the stand-alone licenses for both the PC and Mac editions between five and seven percent. Office 2016, which arrives with key focus on cloud collaboration, aims to tackle this crisis.
Office 365 Planner: helps teams organize their work, with the ability to create new plans, organize and assign tasks, set due dates, and update status with visual dashboards and email notifications.
The new version of the software productivity suite also works with other mobile devices on three different popular platforms letting users pick up from where they left off at another device.
Excel 2016 now includes integrated publishing to Power BI and new modern chart types to help you make the most of your data.
Neil Jordan, general manager of Health Worldwide for Microsoft, said in a blog post: “At Microsoft, we are dedicated to empowering health organisations globally – whether it be through providing the right technology to improve caregiver collaboration and productivity, or delivering solutions that meet ever more stringent privacy, security and regulatory requirements”. In fact, Apple actually went as far as to invite Microsoft’s Kirk Konigsbauer on stage to demonstrate how Office apps run on the iPad Pro.
Office 2016 comes with a number of changes but the most prominent one is its focus on collaboration.
There is also a new chat app baked into Word which allows team members to keep one another in the loop. It also added improvements to Outlook that enables prioritizing vital emails and automatic removal of low-priority mail.
At the enterprise level, Microsoft is providing built-in data loss prevention functionality that allows centralized IT administration, as well as multifactor user authentication.
Office 365 Home starts at $9.99 per month for up to five users, while Office 365 Business starts at $8.25 per month for a year for a single user.
If your office is dependent on the whole Microsoft ecosystem, then this would be the flawless group messaging app for you. The main point is that unlike the current iPads, which can use Office freely for creating and editing documents, iPad Pro users will need a paying Office 365 subscription.
