Rainbow Six Siege has no Story Mode, Beta Extended
Although there is some stuff you can do solo, it’s just gonna be training and matches against bots. During the EGX 2015 panel, the game’s art director, Scott Mitchell stated that players will have access to a training session.
With Rainbow Six Siege’s all new siege style of assault, enemies will customize their strongholds with features like deployable shields and mines, while the Rainbow Six team will have to tactically breach fortifications using observation drones, rappelling, and much more.
Granted, when it comes to Siege, Ubisoft has written itself into a corner with the Rainbow Six games. While it certainly won’t make or break the game (given the wide variety of multiplayer options), Mitchell referred to the single-player mode as more of a “training ground” for multiplayer than anything else, making it less likely that people will visit that mode of gameplay.
The best Ubisoft will offer for a single-player experience is the ability of players to fully customise matches against AI opponents.
“We’ve been getting good feedback on the content of the beta, and matchmaking and server stability have already been improved”, Straight wrote in the official release.
Rainbow Six Siege joins the industry’s other biggest names in stripping themselves of a single player experience.
He added, “Given the current situation, we’ve made the decision to extend the Closed Beta by 3 days. It will run through Thursday, October 1″, Ubisoft posted on Reddit. Once those are completed, we will begin sending invites to players on the waiting list.
“You’re still gaining stars, reknown points and new operatives”, Mitchell furthered.
Rainbow Six: Siege is out on December 1 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
