MS Office 2016 : Microsoft globally launched its new suite of office apps
According to Microsoft, there is new focus on collaboration, security and smart functions that anticipate a user’s needs. It was released on OS X on 9 July 2015 for Office 365 subscribers. For commercial usage, Office subscription cost varies from $99 to $240 per year. The company sees Windows as the “home” for Office. Cortana3 connects with Office 365 to help with tasks such as meeting preparation, with Outlook integration coming in November.
Numerous new update are built to strengthen teamwork, with Co-authoring now provided in Word, PowerPoint and OneNote desktop software. “Office has always been the go-to tool for helping individuals do their best work-whether for professional documents, powerful analyses or school presentations”.
The trick for Microsoft is to get customers hooked onto the subscription model, when buying an upgrade every few years has worked fine until now and some users don’t care about having the latest and greatest all the time. A new gray theme was also added which perfectly suits the dark colored theme of Windows 10.
Dubbed as the Microsoft Office 2016, it comes with various new features to enhance the overall user experience.
Another feature geared towards collaboration is Office 365 Groups. “The Office 2016 apps simplify collaboration and remove barriers to team success”. Everyone on the To: line is provisioned with the right access to documents with modern, cloud-based attachments.
Those who have already installed Microsoft’s new operating system, though, can install a free version of Office if their device has a screen of 10 inches or smaller.
For example, the platform features built-in data loss prevention across Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and multifactor authentication.

Groups, an Outlook 2016 app available for iOS, Android and Windows phones, allows users to organize and communicate through public and private groups. In other words, these versions won’t be updated multiple times per year, unlike the Office releases that users obtain via Office 365 Personal, Home or Business subscriptions.
In what could be the most important update ever to Microsoft’s popular productivity suite, Office 2016 for Windows is now available, Microsoft announced on Tuesday.
