Saudi security forces kill 2 suspects, arrest 3 in raids targeting Islamic
Islamic State has called on supporters to carry out attacks in Saudi Arabia and string of deadly attacks by its followers has fuelled concerns about a growing threat of militancy in the world’s top oil exporter.
In Dammam, a wanted man was killed after he opened fire at security personnel, the ministry said, adding that three people were arrested. All five suspects were identified as Saudi nationals.
Leader of the Shiite Islamic Movement in Nigeria, his eminence, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky says the management of hajj pilgrimage and the two holy mosques and other sanctities in Saudi Arabia is the responsibility of the Muslims world, and not exclusive reserve of the Al-Saud royal family. Images broadcast on state TV and on local news websites show security forces retrieving weapons and bomb-making material from an underground hideout and from inside a residence. A suicide bomber had set off an explosion in the mosque during weekly prayers, leaving at least 21 dead.
The privately-owned Saudi broadcaster Al-Arabiya said those targeted in the raid were linked to a suicide bombing in the southwestern city of Abha.
