Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon arrested in New York
Nicholas Brendon has racked up his third arrest in the past year, getting nabbed in upstate New York on Wednesday after an alleged fight with a girlfriend.
The girlfriend told police officers who were called to a downtown hotel on Wednesday night that she had gone to return property to Brendon and told him she meant to leave, Jillson said.
They said Brendon allegedly objected, took her vehicle keys and cellphone and started choking her. “We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there”. When the host said he smelled alcohol on Brendon and asked him whether he’d been drinking before coming on “The Dr. Phil Show”, the actor walked off stage. He has since been charged with two counts of criminal mischief, as well as one count of obstruction of breathing.
A police spokesman says, “In New York we’ve got a pro-domestic violence charge for criminal mischief if you damage someone’€™s phone to prevent them from calling 911”.
“It sounds like it went downhill from there”, Jillson said.
Nicholas Brendon, who has starred on Criminal Minds since 2007 as Kevin Lynch, has been arrested and involved in a number of incidents throughout 2015.
He was reportedly released from jail Thursday morning after posting a $20,000 bail bond.
Brendon has been arrested three separate times this year, most recently in May for public intoxication.
Back in June, Brendon announced on his social media pages that he had entered a treatment program.
At one point in the couple’s argument, Gillson tells Us, the actor also grabbed his girlfriend’s phone and threw it into the road.
Monday on Twitter, Brendon acknowledged his depression, saying he had “a touch of the anxiety” that day and adding, “let’s not lose sight of the fact that I’m a sexual abuse survivor”.
