Microsoft Launches Three Cloud Data Centers in India

Three regions have been opened: Central India in Pune, South India in Chennai and West India in Mumbai. Azure services are available in India today, with Office 365 services slated for October 2015, and Dynamics CRM Online services to follow in the first half of 2016. A couple of days ago, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Silicon Valley, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had announced availability of its cloud services operating out of India’s data centres. The N-series is powered by NVIDIA graphics processing units and features NVIDIA Grid 2.0 technology and Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform.
Microsoft has announced new solutions spanning containers, security, infrastructure and the IoT for its Azure cloud platform. The company has more than 100 data centres located in over 40 countries. The service is based on open source and will therefore support Windows Server containers in the future. The company has introduced Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT programme, with current partners including Texas Instruments, Freescale Intel and Raspberry Pi.
With the assurance of local data residency, programs like digital lockers and digital identity will also move quickly and enable better citizen services.
Microsoft did something similar recently with the Cortana Analytics Suite.
Yesterday, the company announced a few improvements and enhancements to Azure Data Lake.
