Amit Shah warns Bihar people about ‘jungle raj’

“Nitish Kumar does not have any right to deny special package announced for Bihar as it is meant for the welfare of poor, youths, women and farmers”, Shah said while addressing BJP workers of 32 Assembly seats of Patna and neighbouring areas that would go for polls in the third phase on October 28. Saying that voters had decided not to bring back jungle raj in the state, he fervently appealed to the electorate to ensure victory of all the four NDA candidates from Jamui district – Ajay Pratap Singh from Jamui, Dr Ravindra Yadav from Jhajha, Bijay Kumar Singh from Chakai and Subhash Kumar Paswan from Sikendra (reserved). There is limited occupational opportunity outside the agriculture sector in Bihar.

Shah also highlighted the performance of BJP ruled states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, stating due to their good showing the party had been winning elections regularly in the states. Yet, the Bihar election and caste politics sound synonymous.

“It can be clearly seen that underneath the management of the Bharatiya Janata Party, NDA authorities will be shaped in Bihar with 2/third majority”, he added.

There are also BJP, JDU and BSP candidates who have murder cases registered against them. “And this time too, 32 percent of their votes will be the deciding factor in upcoming state polls”, she said. In its election campaigns, the BJP has been attacking the JD(U) and RJD for allying with the Congress and abandoning “JP’s legacy”, which was anti-Congress. “When Nitish was on our side, we offered a mandate of development to the people, but he had more nefarious plans in his mind and the temptation of becoming the Prime Minister surpassed his need towards your development”, Shah said. “I would give him 8 out of 10”.

It is a tough fight in Bihar, and its outcome will have implications for national politics, for Narendra Modi’s style of governance, for what shape the opposition unity takes and the functioning of Parliament.
