Clinton says she’s sent her book to GOP candidates
Clinton, a Democratic candidate for president, sent copies of her 2014 book “Hard Choices” to the Ohio governor and his rivals for the Republican nomination.
Campaigning in Iowa, Clinton said her proposal would “rein in the too-big-to-fail banks and other institutions”.
“What I’m proposing is that we go after is the risk”, she told an audience in Iowa. “If they are too big to manage, that’s a risk and they should not continue”.
“We also have to do more to hold individuals accountable for their bad behavior”, Clinton added, saying that people “should have gone to jail” after the 2008 financial crisis. And Sanders, who is surging lately and leading Clinton in New Hampshire, has made taking on “billionaires” and Wall Street the key issue of his campaign.
In Clinton’s first big speech on the economy in July, she said that she would focus on encouraging businesses to make long-term investments instead of favoring short-term gains.
In response to Clinton’s gift, Senator Ted Cruz offered to send her a copy of his own book, A Time for Truth.
“They, in fact – along with the institutions they aided and abetted, like AIG – were the cause of the collapse”, deputy campaign manager Lis Smith said in a statement.
“Secretary Clinton has a lot of contacts with numerous union leaders over the years“.
Republican and Democratice presidential candidates are expected to visit Council Bluffs this week. “Democrats are the party of the middle class – it’s time more of our leaders start acting like it”.
Clinton says reinstating that law would not “go after” all the institutions committing abuses.
