Someone on Bills’ sideline took a swing at Giants’ Cullen Jenkins
“I think, for us, it’s just everyone figuring each other out”, Hughes said Wednesday, as the Bills began full-scale preparations for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Both those plays, though, showed the danger of Beckham being Beckham.
Mr. Beckham will be signing photographs of his fantastic catch, jerseys, mini helmets, and new true reproductions of his iconic “revolution” helmet. Bills linebacker Preston Brown also accused Beckham of throwing a punch, telling The Buffalo News that the star wideout will “get away with it” because he is “the “golden boy” of the league”.
Beckham, who seemed unimpressed by the fuss surrounding him Wednesday, said he planned to appeal the fine.
The Giants are in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC East with Dallas, without Tony Romo for a while, and Washington, which outlasted the bad Eagles on Sunday. They’ll probably stay in that pack for the remainder of the regular season, keeping themselves in the conference playoff chase for at least the bulk of the regular season, which is sort of what everyone was expecting from them, anyway.
Beckham and the Bills’ starting cornerbacks (Gilmore and Ronald Darby) battled all afternoon.
The Giants are getting production from players who usually fly so low on the radar, they seldom even register as a blip.
And this is kind of what is happening. “I didn’t have any penalties during the game, so controlling my emotions isn’t really any of my concern”. Clay was Tyrod Taylor’s favorite target last week, and with Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy possibly out again, Clay will play an integral role in the passing game.
“You get people like that, they get around their group and they think they’re tough”, Jenkins said. “But it benefits me”.
And inside the opponents 20-yard line, where defenders can hit receivers especially hard should they cut over the middle or if a quarterback leaves a ball up high, Beckham’s production is way down.
Beckham also spoke to coach Tom Coughlin.
Meaning: Everything will be fine, and by the end of the year the Bills will be right at the top of the league rankings, which is what Ryan boasted the day he was introduced as the Bills’ new coach in January. “Just talking to the players and stressing the importance of the yardage that we lose and just playing smart football. That’s why we don’t have to switch sides because I feel like he’s making plays when they come his way”.
“Yeah, I get punched every single game or “punched” or whatever it is – I get hit in my face every single game”, Beckham said.
Coughlin told Beckham he loves the way he blocks. He even went so far as to call the Giants’ receiver a “prima donna”. No player in National Football League history has had those kinds of numbers in the first 16 games of a career. He could be ejected. “And he’s an emotional guy”. “Say what you want, but I’ll take a team that will fight”. The defensive line has played OK through the first quarter. He has no complaints. “The guys did a good job with it. You would like to have the third quarter, maybe come back and do a better job there”. “I can’t run 10 yards in 1.7 seconds with nobody in front of me”.
