Arsène Wenge: Ozil is going nowhere
Ozil has “tactical problems” with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, say the Italian daily, which could hasten his departure from the Emirates Stadium.
After several seasons of disappointment, Wenger is now starting to build the kind of squad that will be able to consistently challenge for honours in the Premier League and in Europe. Welbeck is due to resume training with the next fortnight and still hopeful of making the start of the season.
We still have to move forward again together this season and that for me is much more important than finding a miraculous player who wins you everything.
.
According to the German Football Federation (DFB), Ozil has provided the funds through his Mesut Ozil Foundation in cooperation with aid organisation BigShoe – hence the big shoe… “He works hard and offensively he is a top class player”, he added.
Wenger also denied he was in the market for Raheem Sterling, who is on the brink of a £49million move from Liverpool to Man City. This, of course, sounds kind of insane to me – why would Arsenal sell one of their best (and most expensive) players, now in the era of good feeling and finance? “We have Walcott, Chamberlain, Sanchez, Wilshere and Gnabry who can play wide or behind the striker”, Wenger told The Telegraph.
Arsenal will look to push on from their performances last season that saw them lift the FA Cup for the second year running.
“They came out of the season thinking they have to rebuild their midfield, and they did it by buying two important players – Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin”.
