Eid mubarak: India celebrates on Saturday as glimpse of moon marks Ramzan’s
Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Saturday as Shawwal Moon has been sighted in many parts of country, Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said Friday.
After the announcement of Shawwal moon in Saudi Arabia and parts of Pakistan it’s nearly decided that Saturday will be the Eid day in Pakistan.
In Oman, however, the Main Crescent Sighting Committee said Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday (July 18).
The Eid-ul-Fitr festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan.
The announcement was made by Mufti Munib after chairing the meeting of the central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee in Islamabad. Large number of the people of Bohra community attended the prayers.
Meanwhile Eid ul Fitar is being celebrated in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Gulf states, Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The biggest gathering of the devotees will be witnessed at Hazratbal Shrine with around 80,000 people expected to offer congregational prayers while as Eidgah ground in old city is set to record an attendance of 50,000 devotees. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday greeted people on the eve of the festival. “I pray to Allah that this Eid be the last Eid in slavery for us”. “We must bear in mind the travails experienced by the Pakistanis displaced from North Waziristan who will be constrained to celebrate Eid in their camps”, he added. Muslims celebrate the day by thanking Almighty Allah for bestowing them with the blessings of Ramadan. “Let us on this day forgive and forget our difference”, Mukherjee said.
