Arsenal prepare move for Man City’s Edin Dzeko
With Alexis Sanchez being awarded a lengthy off-peak for his enchantment with this summer’s Copa America, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reported where the Gunners…
Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema have been linked to the north London side, and Wenger seemed to have left the door open on Benzema.
However, Giroud’s apparent readiness to sign a new striker has raised questions about his future at the club.
However, with 50 league goals since moving to England from Wolfsburg in 2011 Dzeko is proven in the Premier League, something which will be invaluable to Arsenal as they look to claim the league title for the first time since the Invincibles of 2004.
“Sorry to surprise you but we have no fringe players, only good players”, he said. “Absolutely I do. There’s a real belief that we can win the Premier League and that we can compete to win major trophies in the next few years”.
“
If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team,
because competition is good for everyone”, the forward added.
“We always have to do things better than our competitors, that is our challenge”, the Gunners chief executive told Fox Sports Asia.
“I don’t know where that story comes from, but that is not happening at the moment”.
When someone suggested that Arsenal have not been active in the transfer market because they have all the players they need, Wenger swiftly reiterated his stance from earlier this week. He continued, “Now football has changed – they come back after holidays and they don’t start from zero”.
Wenger also confirmed that there were ongoing talks with Walcott over a deal that expires next summer.
