“It should be done in a non-violent manner”. Hazare urged to continue non-voilent protests until the demand of OROP is met. He also said that the protests will continue in several places all over the country.

“There were many assurances about removing corruption but nothing has been done by the govt till now”, Hazare said.

The 78-year-old Gandhian activist has already announced launching an indefinite fast on October 2 in Delhi over the Land Bill and to press for OROP.

Hazare, who recently wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the twin issues, said at his native village Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar district that “I will launch the fast at Ramlila ground in Delhi on October 2”.

Joining the protest, Hazare said, “It is because of the soldiers, civil persons can sleep in relief”. 50000 per month then why does a war widow gets only Rs.3000-4000 in this inflated market.

“Why they are not implementing, what are the problems they must share with the people and the Parliament and they must explain why the government is not taking serious measures to implement it”, he added.

“We will go ahead with our plan to show black flags to the minister for his failure to have already approved the OROP scheme”, said Brigadier (Retd) Harwant Singh, representative of the United Front of Ex-Servicemen (UFESM).

Hazare will be attending an event where widows and mothers of martyred defence personnel will be honoured in a function tomorrow to mark the “Kargil Vijay Diwas” following which he is scheduled to meet the Delhi CM at the new Maharashtra Sadan at 8 PM. The run was organized from Dhaula Kuan area to India Gate in which many civilians also took part.

In a tweet, he also paid tributes to soldiers who died in the 1999 Kargil conflict.

“Our anger is not against any person, but against the government’s policy of enormous delay in implementing OROP”.

The OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen’s associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
