Trudeau pledges talks on trade deal
The riding’s largest town is Stratford.
In that ad, Trudeau opines that “the traffic in Toronto is unbelievable”.
Not so the Harper Conservatives, however.
“I seethe with anger atConservative corruption, arrogance and entitlement in Ottawa”, said Rabidoux.
Born and raised in Stratford, Rabidoux’s parents were committed Progressive Conservatives. The province has been unfriendly territory to the Conservatives in recent years.
In viewing vast numbers of Canadians as implacable foes, the Conservative party has succeeded in making them thus.
It’s a situation he denounces as a “sin”. Having spent decades as an anchor party on the left with no hope of forming government, it has never developed the gravitas to be a serious contender for government. Majority electoral support for any governing party at either the federal or provincial level is only somewhat less rare than spotting a unicorn.
– Tories did lousy job explaining TPP to Canadians. He has hammered away on the importance of upholding the country’s supply management system for dairy and poultry farmers.
“In Canada, we have the opportunity to do something for our kids”, Trudeau said. As of this writing the Conservatives not only have a significant seat lead over the other two parties, but momentum is on the Conservative side while the Liberals are stagnant and the NDP are declining. It’s obvious, though, that that day will in all likelihood come sooner under certain electoral scenarios rather than others.
With a little-understood electoral weapon called GOTV: get out the vote. “The Conservative Party doesn’t really support that”. “Some of it’s going to the Liberals, but frankly more is going to the Conservatives, and more of it to the Bloc”. His plan for moving ahead? A former Certified Accountant, he’s a firm believer in fiscal responsibility coupled with a social conscience.
Only one makes a passing mention of NDP Leader Tom Mulcair, whose party began the campaign as the front-runner but is now flagging in the polls. He’s now working eagerly on Rabidoux’s campaign.
In simple terms, the Conservatives are “staying the course”.
And he turned the fear question around, saying Harper wasn’t afraid of him.
“They are now Republican [Party] North. Getting rid of Mr. Harper but keeping the present right-wing bunch achieves nothing”. Or wait until after the election is over so they wouldn’t lose a potential vote?
Further put off by the party’s inability to compromise, and the passing of omnibus legislation that he felt marginalized the views of many Canadians, he felt that it was time to phone his local MP. “It is the Canadian way, after all”, he said. There needs to be a complete restructuring of the party. Not exactly aligned with the Conservatives or Liberals.
Chakrabarti is now campaigning for the NDP, which is promising to shift federal funding from oil sands to renewable energy.
There is even an outside chance – as of today – that enough Conservative candidates might be elected to form a majority government. “Conserve is in the name of the party!” The 2015 report from the Reputation Institute ranked Canada as the most reputable country in the world, based on a variety of environmental, political, and economic factors, and recently Canada moved up two points to 13th position in the latest Global Competitiveness Report issued by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum.
Mulcair says they will bring the retirement age back to 65 and save up to $3-billion a year in health care with prescription group purchases. “But when we look across the national picture, we find these regional gains have favoured the Conservatives”.
Harper lumped the NDP and Liberals together calling their promises “reckless”.
Regionally, the NDP has fallen well behind in Ontario, projected to pick up only 18 seats in the country’s most vote-rich region.
Trudeau was speaking in the cavernous and empty Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
In Brar’s opinion, the UCCB was “just buying people’s votes”.
For the Liberals, this is “real change”.
What distinguishes the Harper Conservatives is the manner in which they have rigidly held to the formula.
Stratford resident Joe Jesso is a gun rights advocate who works to educate people on how to use firearms safely, and on hunting and Canadian outdoor traditions.
And it’s GOTV that will likely prove decisive in this election barring a sudden voter stampede to one party that would rival the surprising NDP victory in Alberta earlier this year – when Rachel Notley’s crew saw their vote quadruple over the previous election. The NDP will expand access to EI so that it continues to be a safety net for all workers who are temporarily unemployed.
“The Conservatives make the argument that the security forces need more “tools in their tool box”. My opposition counterparts are new at this so I feel that I’ve got that on top of them with regard to experience. Quebec is becoming a much closer race as NDP support drops.
Shields says that the new NDP policy is clearly targeting current students and is a representation of how much each individual vote matters in such a close race. Maybe, just maybe the party sees a few movement happening that warranted a visit by Trudeau.
Ex-Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams urged Conservatives not to vote for Harper, who has made the Islamic face veil a focus of the October 19 election.
