Bangladesh-South Africa rained out, test ends in draw
When the fourth day of the first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa was rained out, it did not stop the 32-year old from participating in a street football game with some Bangladeshi kids. Despite curtailed second and third days, the match was delicately poised with South Africa nearly drawing level with Bangladesh after the hosts had taken early honours.
“But these things you can’t really control”.
Bangladesh had lost the previous eight encounters against the world number one side, but were faring well at the start of the two-Test series.
“Bowling them out cheaply and then scoring over 300 runs against them first time, taking the lead, the batting of top and late order are positives for us”.
Steady rain washed out the entire morning session on Saturday, prompting the match officials to call off play with South Africa on 61 for no loss in their second innings.
They seem to have unearthed a pace talent in left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who announced his test arrival claiming three wickets in four balls in South Africa’s first innings.
Bangladesh bowled superbly to restrict the Proteas to 248 in their first innings on day one before scoring 326 to take a 78-run lead. The second Test in Mirpur is scheduled to begin on Thursday and so is the rain.
