Microsoft launches much-awaited Windows 10
If ever an operating system has grown up in public, it’s Windows 10.
Some may already have it, according to several user reports.
The Windows Store offers one-stop shopping for popular free and paid apps, games, movies, TV shows and the latest music, which work across all Windows 10 devices.
Microsoft is rolling out its new operating system, Windows 10, tomorrow.
Microsoft sets the target of attracting a billion users in a span of 3 years by offering free upgrades to Windows 10 for devices running Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
The technology giant’s India-born CEO Satya Nadella will have the Windows 10 launch party in Kenya.
Microsoft said it will soon begin informing the 4.4 million customers who had pre-ordered a copy that they can download the update.
And Matt Harwood, of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, tweeted: “Installing Windows10, it seems to be taking longer than Windows7”.
Microsoft is paying tribute to the spirit of Windows 10 through the Upgrade Your World initiative, designed to celebrate those who inspire and empower others. It disappeared in Windows 8, but the easy navigation returns along with various new features. The thing that went missing from Windows 8 that resulted in the operating system feature equivalent of a Milk Carton missing person poster along the lines of “Missing: User Interface Feature”.
It is available in more than 190 countries and has sent fans in to meltdown as they attempt to download the new upgrade. Through Windows Hello, users can access their devices and apps by completing a biometric-based authentication process such as a facial recognition or fingerprint scan.
There are now 5 million Windows Insiders, and their feedback has helped shape the operating system’s direction.
One of the apparent advantages of the Windows 10 update is that it provides greater security by automatically updating and patching itself in a mandatory manner. But recently Microsoft launched Surface 3, which is significantly cheaper than the Surface Pro and yet has nearly all the functionality that users get with the Pro tablet.
From today, Windows 10 will be available to most consumers as a free download. But Windows 10 looks even better. The new version of Windows brings a new philosophy, which Microsoft’s Terry Myserson called “Windows as a service”. And this means you don’t actually have to wait for your Windows 10 reservation to arrive too. But a direct upgrade to Windows 10 is not an option for you.
