Arsenal loan Dan Crowley to Barnsley
Arsenal have confirmed that their promising young midfielder Dan Crowley has joined Barnsley on loan until January, as stated on the club website.
Crowley signed for the Reds yesterday until January 3, joining Manchester United loan midfielders Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell at Oakwell.
Barnsley head coach Lee Johnson said, “I’m delighted to welcome Dan on board”.
Barnsley claim to have beaten a number of clubs to the signing of “one of the best young players” in Europe.
Crowley was one of the mainstays of the Gunners’ Under-21 side last season and went on to play 27 games for the side across all competitions as they finished fourth in the Under-21 Premier League Division 2 standings. I am delighted Arsenal have chosen Barnsley to aid the development of this exceptional talent, as well as aiding us in our pursuit of promotion.
Crowley captained Arsenal’s FA Youth Cup side last season and impressed in the Uefa Youth League, scoring five goals in seven appearances while also appearing regularly for the under-21 side.
He caught the eye for Arsenal’s youth sides with his ability at set-pieces, close control and eye for a pass. Comparison’s have been made between Crowley and Jack Wilshere, although the latter is left-footed.
