GOP Primary Poll: Trump 20, Walker 13, Bush 10

Only about 17% of Americans, according to a recent CBS poll, haven’t heard enough about her to form an opinion.

Bush had led in nearly all previous Florida GOP surveys, while Walker and Rubio traded the second and third spots, usually well behind him.

In mid-June when several candidates still had not yet declared, 53% of Republicans wanted all the challengers on the debate stage at the same time, while 39% wanted to limit the number appearing.

That figure is even higher among Republican women, 37% of whom say they would never vote for Trump.

The former reality-TV star is first among Republicans in the national survey at 20 percent – the largest share of any Republican contender recorded by the independent Q Poll in two years. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, ex-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson – are tied at 6 percent.

The other candidates in the poll were Texas Sen. He said Perry should “have to take an IQ test” to qualify for the GOP primary debates, and that the former governor started wearing glasses “so people will think he’s smart”.

Hillary Clinton remains the clear front-runner for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in a new poll. For results among the full sample of 1,644 registered voters, it is plus or minus 2.4 points.

Both party leaders have their worst favorability ratings yet. Sanders, 45 to 37 percent.

Christie came in tenth with 3 percentage points.

Clinton handedly beat Trump, 48 to 36 percent. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and former New York Governor George Pataki each pick up one percent (1%) of the Republican vote. Trump saw the figure as a rebuke of the conventional wisdom that calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” would cost him support among Hispanics.

While U.S. real estate magnate Donald Trump is leading among Republican presidential candidates in the polls, many doubt if he can really clinch the nomination.

In a head-to-head matchup, Bush would get 42 percent to Clinton’s 41 percent. Trump may be surging in GOP quarters, but he would clearly be a dead loss in a general election.
