Touch panel suppliers step up shipments for new iPhone
The next-gen iPhone is expected to be officially announced in September, but this is just based on Apple’s previous habits but unless Apple changes the timetable, chances are that will indeed be the case. With the launch inching closer, rumors are rife that Apple’s suppliers have ramped up the production of the smartphones’ displays.
With the iPhone 6s expected to make its debut next month, the annual onslaught of leaked images is in full swing.
Suppliers reportedly began shipping Force Touch modules in limited numbers in June, increasing shipments in July.
TPK also anticipates its revenues to double in the third quarter, which would presumably tie in with the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus and, therefore, the increase in demand for Force Touch panels. Now, DigiTimes reported that TPK, which manufactures Force Touch panels for Apple, has commenced mass-production of the pressure-sensitive modules, after making small sample shipments last month.
By September, 36 to 40 million next generation iPhones could be built and another 50 million by the subsequent quarter, sources told DigiTimes. Well, today we’ve managed to unearth some new information about Apple’s latest upcoming touch panels and you can take a look at it below. The new iPhone will feature a 4.7-inch screen and will be powered by an A9 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. While mere conjecture, these black dots could potentially be related to Force Touch technology, a feature rumored for inclusion on Apple’s next-gen phone.
