Hull City Bring in Arsenal’s Isaac Hayden on Loan
Hull City have confirmed they have signed centre-back Isaac Hayden on a season-long loan from Arsenal.
Akpom is yet to score a senior goal for any of the clubs he’s previously played for, so the England Under-19 worldwide will be desperate to correct that this coming season.
Speaking about his move, Hayden insists it is ideal for him at this stage of his career.
The 20-year-old, who can either operate in midfield or defence, has captained the Arsenal U21 team in the past and he has also featured for the Gunners’ first-team on two occasions in the League Cup.
If Akpom is to have a future at a club of Arsenal’s stature then he must show that he is capable of displacing the quality of strikers that Hull City possess. I’m very excited for the season ahead. Moreover, Arsene Wenger had spoken about plans to play Theo Walcott, who just extended his stay at the club, as a striker which will leave Chuba Akpom even lower down in the pecking order. “The manager has been great with me and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the lads – I can’t wait to get started now”, Hayden told Hull’s official site. Akpom has the physical and technical tools to make it at Arsenal, but his decision-making and finishing have disappointed when given the opportunity at the first-team level.
