One Love Manchester concert raises nearly $3.5 million
The star-studded event helped raise money for the victims and their families. By re-releasing one of her biggest hits, the songstress is making it clear that she has nothing but love for everyone involved.
The police constable, whose presence on duty reassured concert-goers following two recent terror attacks in England, described to PEOPLE how the moment came about. The concert continued as planned even after another terrorist attack struck the United Kingdom on Saturday evening, when authorities said three men drove a van into pedestrians on the London Bridge and attacked people with knives at nearby Borough Market.
Other performers included Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Take That, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and a special performances by former frontman of Manchester band Oasis, Liam Gallagher. We know she truly put her heart into this performance.
Sunday’s One Love Manchester concert took on added brevity and bravery, considering that it was just one day after another terrorist attack in London killed seven people and injured almost 50 on Saturday night at the London Bridge and Borough Market. I can’t explain how incredible the energy was yesterday, every single person with nothing but love to give one another.
“I want to thank you once again for coming out here tonight and answering that call that hatred will never win, fear will never divide us, because on this day we all stood with Manchester”. Salman Abedi blew himself up, killing 22 young concertgoers and injuring at least 59 others.
Following Manchester’s own Take That, Pharrell and Miley Cyrus to the stage, Grande appropriately chose “Be Alright” for her first song, setting an optimistic tone for the rest of the night. “We all listen to the same music, and you think about it, and think that’s my friend, that’s my sister, that’s my brother, that’s my cousin, that’s the person that loves music”. The One Love concert reportedly made more than $12 million.
