IPhone 6s Display, Force Touch Details Revealed
The latest out of Apple’s ever leaky China supply are trio of photos of the iPhone 6s display assembly.
This time, courtesy of DigiTimes, we have learned that Apple’s suppliers in the far East have started to ramp up production of Force Touch panels.
Apple did not reveal any Force Touch integration for the iPhone when unveiling iOS 9 in June. Leaked images of casings and shells of the next-gen iPhone have shown the handset’s design to be nearly identical to its predecessor, the iPhone 6.
Force Touch, an existing Apple Watch and MacBook feature, is a pressure-sensitive technology that will enable future iPhones to distinguish between a light tap and deep press and complete different actions accordingly. The upcoming iPhone 6s is expected to be made out of the tough 7000 Series aluminum to avoid any bending issues and offer greater durability. The iPhone 6s will also come with a faster Qualcomm LTE chip, and an improved 12MP rear camera. TPK is one of the companies that’s making Force Touch modules for Apple, Digitimes says, and the company also started production this month.
Touch panel supply chains of the iPhone 6 have stepped up shipments for the next generation iPhone, with shipments of the new Apple smartphones expected to reach 36-40 million in the third quarter and 50 million in the fourth quarter, as mentioned by supply chain sources. While mere conjecture, these black dots could potentially be related to Force Touch technology, a feature rumored for inclusion on Apple’s next-gen phone.
