Pak refutes India’s assertion on Gurdaspur attack, says pointing fingers
Earlier in the year of 2010 on April 25, two Pakistani terrorists who had infiltrated into the country from across the Indo-Pak border were killed in an encounter at Ratrawan village in Bamiyal sector, of Gurdaspur district.
The union home minister said that the Border Security Force was always on the alert though a few terrorist might have succeeded in infiltrating due to heavy rains and swelling of rivers and nullahs on the border.
India should work jointly to end terrorism in the region as Pakistan on Thursday emphasised the need for a cooperative approach to tackle terrorism while categorically rejecting “baseless” allegations made by Rajnath Singh, Home Minister of India, on the Gurdaspur attack.
As for the Global Positioning System devices in their possession, the sources said the terrorists seemed to have deleted some data on it. “If the government of India has any concrete evidence in this case, the same may be shared with Pakistan“, he said.
A foreign ministry statement said the Afghan Taliban leadership had asked for the postponement “in view of the reports regarding the death of Mullah Omar and the resulting uncertainty”.
Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah Thursday said that the second round of the Afghan peace talks has been postponed.
Such incidents are relatively common in the disputed Kashmir region, which is divided between India and Pakistan and claimed in full by both.
Two people familiar with the development said that the government had so far not indicated any pullback from its decision to hold talks at the level of national security advisors, border security chiefs and senior military officials-a pointer to the Indian government’s intent to carry on the engagement. “Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”.
Army and Punjab Police have launched an operation against the terrorists and one has been killed while four others are still holed up inside the police station in Dinanagar in the Gurdaspur district since 5 AM.
Separately, five bombs were found along a railway track in Punjab, suggesting a possibly coordinated attack.
