Quantum Break release date revealed, Gamescom trailer
It does not mean that every single Xbox 360 game ever released will be playable on Xbox One consoles, but scores of titles will get a new lease of life. Having enjoyed the good amalgamation of storyline and gameplay in previous Remedy Entertainment works, I am genuinely looking forward to diving into this title upon release.
Microsoft had initially positioned the Xbox One as a broader media device, and this fits right into that original pitch. Xbox One Backwards Compatibility will be available to all members in November 2015. Microsoft is now reportedly working on PC to Xbox One streaming, but it’s not something that the company is talking about. The company also officially announced the long-rumored Xbox One DVR is real and will be released in 2016.
Microsoft fans have been left open-mouthed by the surprise announcement of a sequel to the real time strategy game Halo Wars. Microsoft announced strong support from publishers including EA, Activision, and around a dozen more though, so there should be no shortage of classic titles to replay.
What will be interesting to see is how the refreshed Xbox One will play with Windows 10 PCs. This will bring a lot of new capabilities to the Xbox One, but the most obvious will be the new user interface. This will mean a smoother, more integrated experience between your Windows 10 PC and your Xbox One console. All you have to do is play online between August 25, 2015 and December 31, 2015 and you’ll have them added to your library for free when the backwards compatibility feature goes public later this year.
Microsoft also showed off more of the racing game “Forza 6” and a new map for “Halo 5 Guardians”.
Xbox One owners, Microsoft said, will be able to record TV shows, movies and sporting events, noting that “the amount of recorded content is only limited by the size of the drive”.
