Wenger confirms Wilshere out for ‘a few weeks’ with cracked fibula
Wilshere has a long history of injury problems, particularly concerning his ankles, and was sidelined for five months last season after undergoing surgery on his left ankle.
A challenge from United defender Paddy McNair led to another season interrupted by injury for Wilshere, who returned only for the remaining six matches of the 2014/15 campaign.
The Arsenal midfielder will reportedly find out his fate before the weekend, with a best case scenario putting him out for 6-8 weeks, a return in late September.
However, it appears the injury was worse than initially thought, with Wilshere now facing around two months on the sidelines.
In May, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said Wilshere needed “one or two years without problems” to get his “full confidence and belief back”.
Arsenal have suffered a massive blow after their star midfielder Jack Wilshere as he is set for a lengthy layoff due to leg injury. “It was a collision in training and it was all completely accidental”.
There had been concerns Wilshere would require surgery but it seems as if he has avoided the need to have an operation.
“[Welbeck] is not too far away, but he is not ready for Sunday”.
Alexis Sanchez is also unlikely to be included after winning the Copa America with Chile in early July.
