BJP worker shot dead in Bihar
Pandemonium broke out in Bihar Legislative Assembly today with opposition BJP staging a protest demanding CBI inquiry into the purchase of medicines worth Rs 100 crore for hospitals when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was holding health portfolio.
According to police, Kumar was shot dead when he was on his way to a tea shop near a temple in Salimpur Ahra locality.
Authorities say footage from a security camera shows the attackers pursuing Avinash Kumar, a ward leader of the BJP, on foot near his Daldali Road residence.
Meanwhile, the news about Kumar’s murder spread like wildfire and residents of the area came out on roads to protest. They shot him and he fell on the road.
Bihar, one of the country’s poorest and most lawless states, is expected to see assembly polls in two to three months with an avowedly secular alliance of Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), former rival Lalu Prasad’s RJD and the Congress taking on the BJP that’s banking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity. One of the assailants then walks up to him and shoots him in the head.
Hussain lashed out at Nitish over the killing of his party colleague Avinash by unidentified men in Patna, saying that the people of the state are eagerly waiting for the Janata Dal (United) leader’s term to end. “All the attackers escaped after committing the crime”, a police officer said.
“Killing of BJP worker has vindicated our stand that law and order has totally collapsed in the state“, he said.
BJP MLAs registered their protest in the Assembly and created a ruckus due to which the House was adjourned till 2 PM.
The BJP representative left his house for some work in the morning but was soon surrounded by some miscreants on three bikes and shot him dead.
