Xbox One’s New DVR Feature Requires External Hard Drive
Xbox One is set to receive a new feature that allows users to record on-air TV, but you’re going to have to plug in an external HDD to get it to work. The drive offers 2TB of massive storage space for backing up all your games in a compact-sized shell, enough to fit inside your pocket.
During a presentation concerning redesign of the Xbox One dashboard project lead Richard Irving confirmed that the DVR function isn’t going to record live TV to the Xbox One’s internal hard drive. “Microsoft is privileged to be working with Seagate as our trusted partner for this important designed for Xbox peripheral”.
Also noted by Microsoft is the ability to utilize Smartglass apps on Windows devices to remotely schedule recordings, you know in case you abruptly remember at work.
Overall the external hard drive isn’t really a drawback considering they needed to make it so the shows don’t interfere with the games.
“This exciting new collaboration with Microsoft Xbox is an important milestone for Seagate that will help us to reach a new audience, which has an insatiable appetite for storage”, said Jeff Fochtman – Senior Director of Product Marketing for Seagate.
The Game Drive will fetch a retail price of $109.99 and will be available at Amazon, GameStop and other supported retailers worldwide.
