Christie seizes GOP Debate chance
“That’s a completely ridiculous answer”, said Christie, a former federal prosecutor, who has said that the 9/11 attacks illustrated the need for broad-ranging collection of intelligence. “It’s the cumulative effect of shaping people’s opinions of who you are that matters over the long haul”.
Christie stressed that he’s “the only guy on this stage who has put out a detailed, 12-point plan on entitlement reform”. Get a warrant! Get a judge to sign a warrant!’. But when he did, Christie did make the most of his time.
“I want to collect more records from terrorists, but less records from innocent Americans”, Paul said. “If you want to give him a big hug again…”
In that respect, Paul suggested that he and Trump aren’t all that different. It works incredibly well in Scotland.
Trump continues to wave around his money as necessary qualification that he can get the U.S. out of financial turmoil, yet with four bankruptcies under his belt since 1991 that sure doesn’t make him seem at all capable. Trump said at the time he wasn’t still arguing for it and quipped that Paul “was having a hard time tonight”, drawing a roar from the audience. You wouldn’t be talking. “People are frustrated. They’re fed up”, Kasich said.
He said he remained convinced that the Mexican government was orchestrating immigration, in order to avoid paying benefits and other costs for its own citizens. “It’s called the Constitution of the United States”.
Christie and Paul made the list of the top five candidates being discussed on Facebook during the debate, with Paul coming in third and Christie in fifth. But not everyone thought that was wise. “He’s hitting a nerve”.
Mr. Rubio all but ignored Chris Wallace’s question asking him to respond to Mr. Bush’s assertion that the 44-year-old senator is not experienced enough for the White House. Sen. Christie’s presidential efforts have been derailed to date not by the candidate or actually anything he did or said, but the shenanigans of his staff in closing lanes on the George Washington Bridge in 2012.
So when the field of 10 republicans was asked if God had spoken to them about their decision to run for president, I knew I had to invoke Bruce Springsteen’s near refusal to acknowledge Christie in any way since taking office, despite his longly-professed love for the legendary singer (Springsteen did shake hands with Christie during NBC’s Hurricane Sandy telethon).
She then deftly explained Trump’s unexpected success thus far: “I think he’s tapped into an anger that people feel”. “But I want to leave the option open just in case that doesn’t happen”. “He’s already hedging his bets, because he’s used to buying politicians”. Bush will be there Saturday – along with Texas Sen. Christie asked Fox News debate moderator Megyn Kelly. Just like he was expressing another frustration when he insisted “the big problem this country has is being politically correct”. I’ve been very nice to you.
Other candidates sought to distinguish themselves in the debate’s first few minutes.
Even better for Rubio was the mediocre performance by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who was uninspiring.
“I don’t think that’s an accurate accounting of my view”, Rubio replied. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
The two-hour debate, on Fox News Channel, ties the record for most candidates in any primary-season debate.
