In Iowa, Clinton says climate plan will promote renewables
“Clinton avoided specifics and refused to take a position on important job-creating energy projects like the Keystone Pipeline, reminding voters why they think she’s untrustworthy.”
Environmentalists say the project would contribute to global warming by distributing dirty oil.
Clinton was making her comments at Iowa State University in Ames and later in Carroll.
However, that approach backfired in August 2011 after a California based solar panel manufacturing plant called Solyndra went bankrupt and left taxpayers on the hook for $535 million of federal green energy loans.
Trump, who in the face of Republican opprobrium this week flirted with the prospect of an independent campaign, has been close to Clinton in the past, having donated to her and to the Clinton Foundation.
The plan’s estimated cost is about $60 billion over 10 years, and would be paid for by eliminating tax breaks for the oil and gas industry, Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon said.
Among Clinton’s 2016 opponents, Vermont Sen.
Addressing this issue Sunday, Clinton touted a program that would combat climate change at least in part by changing the tax code to promote renewable energy.
Both Sanders and O’Malley oppose the pipeline.
Clinton’s sharp focus on solar energy and other alternative energy sources is not unlike President Obama’s big push throughout his first term to spark expansion in the solar energy industry, largely with the use of Energy Department grants and loans to private producers of solar panels and batteries.
In an interview with The Washington Examiner, and later during a campaign stop in Chicago, Walker said the proper role for the EPA is to serve as a mediator to resolve disputes between such state agencies.
Elsewhere, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush used a meeting with a crowd of pastors to focus on his conservative persona. “And I’ve surely got to inform you, those who dispute against this are only not attending to”. “But the intervening fact that has happened over these eight years is that excesses on Wall Street almost wrecked our entire economy”, O’Malley said, adding, “We still as Democrats have not followed through on the promise we made to reign in that reckless behaviour so that it doesn’t happen again”. During her formal announcement last month in New York, she vowed to make America “the clean energy superpower of the 21 century”.
“I want to help people rise up”, he said, borrowing from the name of his super political action committee, Right to Rise. “And my proposals reflect that”, O’Malley said.
“This is one of the very serious disagreements, policy disagreements in this campaign”. “It’s a strong potential base for Rand”. Check back soon for further information. “And I know firsthand from my time as secretary of state that America’s ability to lead the world on this issue hinges on our commitment to act ourselves”, Clinton said.
