The unbeaten champion, 38, faces fellow countryman Berto in Las Vegas on 12 September, and could extend his winning run to 49 fights.

Meanwhile, if Floyd found Andre an exciting fighter, some boxing observers still believe that despite his scheduled retirement after the Berto fight, Floyd Mayweather will continue to fight. Due to these events, Berto thought that his career was going nowhere, until Mayweather picked him to be his opponent come September, LA Times reported.

Some of those elements are common to all Mayweather opponents, merely as a product of lesser men fighting the pound-for-pound king, though Berto seems particularly well-suited to making an all-time great counterpuncher look great going out the door.

Mayweather will surely keep all that in mind before stepping into the ring on September 12, probably with more sleep than he got before the press conference.

For his part, Berto acknowledged that sentiment, saying, “I know how people feel [after the Pacquiao fight], and it’s my luck that I come right behind that”.

Pacquiao underwent surgery on his right shoulder a few days after the fight.

The English professional boxer has several other exciting opportunities lined up with WBA welterweight champion, Keith Thurman, wanting a match as well as a possible clash with former gym-mate, Manny Pacquiao.
