Trump ‘blood’ remark on Megyn Kelly backfires
Donald Trump’s latest controversial comment was so alarming that he’s been disinvited from a Republican gathering on Saturday in Atlanta.
“She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions, and you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes”.
Trump, in keeping with his modus operandi, was as defiant as ever, claiming that he meant that blood was coming out of her nose – and not suggesting that Kelly was on her menstrual cycle. “I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trump’s place tomorrow night”.
“This is just another example of weakness through being politically correct”, his campaign said in a statement.
Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry also slammed Trump in a statement, questioning his credentials to be president.
“I will not make the pledge at this time”, said Trump, who has said for weeks that he would not rule out an independent bid, especially if he felt he was mistreated by the party. “Blame Erick Erickson, your weak and pathetic leader”. “I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness, and to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either”. “She got fired, and she ran for office and she lost in a landslide – I don’t see that as being necessarily great potential”. Another candidate, Senator Lindsey Graham, applauded Erickson for revoking Trump’s invitation and said, “Enough already with Mr. Trump”.
“I don’t have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly, she’s a lightweight”. However, Trump’s campaign soon issued a statement explaining that the candidate had misspoken.
Donald Trump has unloaded on Fox News journalist Megyn Kelly.
The Republicans will host at least eight more debates as the party whittles down its broad field and determines its flagbearer to go up against likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Amid the controversy it emerged that Mr Trump’s top political adviser had left his campaign.
Luntz asked a focus group how many people had a positive view of Trump before the debate compared with after the debate.
“You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals”, Kelly said to Trump during the Thursday night debate. Trump spent much of Friday criticizing Kelly, who had the temerity to ask Trump about his constant use of derogatory language toward women and whether it reflected the “temperament of a man we should elected as president”.
In the debate, Trump joked that he was only referring to talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, but didn’t deny having used the insults.
In the meantime, Mr Trump is sitting out Saturday’s grassroots event. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him, ‘ he continued.
