With 4 families claiming Indian girl in Pakistan is their daughter, Sushma

Necessary formalities are being completed to bring Geeta back to India and Sushma Swaraj appealed to her followers’ on Twitter to help locate Geeta’s family.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj stated on Saturday that India is finishing the required formalities to bring back Gita, a listening to and speech-impaired Indian woman stranded in Karachi, to India. She has also written that her home bears the number 193. “With these particulars, please assist find Gita’s family”, the minister tweeted. Then she wrote down “Vaishno Devi”, Swaraj tweeted.

Gita is believed to have mistakenly crossed into the Pakistani territory as a child.

Ramraj and Anara Devi, who hail from Dhamohan village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, claimed Gita was their daughter Savita who went missing from an ashram in Bihar 11 years ago, according to media reports. The renewed push to unite the woman with her parents comes to light soon after the success of Bollywood film “Bajrangi Bhaijaan“.

Sushma Swaraj had requested the envoy to go to Karachi to meet Gita.

Deaf and mute, Geeta has been stuck in Pakistan for 13 years, unable to return to her native India because she can not remember or explain exactly where she is from.

Geeta is now under the care of Pakistan’s largest Charity, Edhi foundation.

The couple, Rajesh Kumar and Ram Dulari, conveyed to Hindustan Times through their son, Raju, 14, that the girl being raised by Edhi Foundation in Karachi is their daughter Pooja, who they fondly used to call Guddi.

According to stories, Gita is a vegetarian and has arrange a small “mandir” in her room on the Edhi Foundation the place she prays to Indian gods and goddesses. She had also written the names of her brothers and sisters, mostly in the Devnagari script, and others in Hindi.
