From Nitish Kumar to PM Modi: Hair, Nail Samples for ‘DNA Test’
Janata Dal (United) workers, leaders and sympathisers on Tuesday sent samples of their DNA to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protests against his remarks towards Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar at a party rally last month.
Bihar Chief Minister started the campaign from Gardanibagh area where thousands of JD(U) supporters queued up to donate samples of their nails and hair, which were later marked and sealed in small plastic bags. “I am proud of being a Bihari. We will be launching the “Shabd Wapasi” (take your words back) campaign against him by sending signatures and DNA samples of 50 lakh people so he is forced to withdraw his extremely disparaging comments that have hurt the people of Bihar”, Kumar wrote on his micro-blogging site. “If you have doubts please test it”, read a message on the red and white envelopes with a diagram of human DNA.
Patna/Purnia: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said his government has launched an agri-roadmap to pilot a rainbow revolution to give a fillip to the agriculture and allied sectors in the state. Nitish later described the DNA remark as an “insult” to people of Bihar. He was referring to his constant change of political allegiance. “The Prime Minister said Bihar is BIMARU and the people of Bihar are durbhagyashaali (wretched)”.
Reacting to Nitish’s new move, senior BJP leader Sushil Modi accused him of trying to divert poll campaign from real development issues.
Signalling the start of the collection drive this morning, Nitish Kumar attacked the PM again saying, “I was waiting for him to take back his words at his Gaya rally”.
The Chief Minister said the JD(U) has decided to organise four to five Swabhimaan (self-respect) rallies in different parts of the state to put pressure on Modi to take back his DNA remark. He thinks he could keep insulting a democratically-elected Prime Minister whenever and wherever he wants.
“Nitish Kumar can’t stand scrutiny and criticism by the media and so his men have resorted to intimidation and blackmailing of the media by threatening to stop advertisement”, Modi alleged.
