Congress protest over suspended MPs enters third day

Raising the issue, Kirit Somaiya termed the Youth Congress demonstration outside the Speaker’s official residence yesterday as unprecedented and said such an incident has never happened. It should be taken back. Following commotion over the tabling of the Thakkar Commission report that looked into the assassination of Indira Gandhi, 63 MPs were suspended for a week.
“We have not shied away from a discussion and we are ready for it”, Singh said, adding that the opposition has an important role and must allow the House to function.
Among the 25 suspended Congress MPs six of them are from North East including the Shillong MP.
As indicated by sources, the Congress camp said it had not been told if such a possibility existed.
“The Vyapam scam has destroyed the future of thousands in Madhya Pradesh”, he said. Sushma Swaraj has broken laws, and the Rajasthan chief minister is financially involved with (former IPL chief) Lalit Modi. The Congress party is not asking for their resignations.

Opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Nationalist Congress Party today raised slogans demanding that the Speaker withdraw her suspension order and then walked out of the Lok Sabha.

Thanking the opposition parties for joining their protest, Ghulam Nabi Azad said,”I thank other parties for supporting Congress. Party MPs from Rajya Sabha can not be absent from the House but will protest with the Congress to show solidarity”. The Lower House was adjourned for the day soon after the members were suspended under Rule 374 (A).
