Janet Jackson to be honoured at BETs

Janet Jackson has been selected by BET to receive their inaugural Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award which will be given at the 15th annual BET Awards, Sunday, July 28.

BET is excited beyond belief to present Janet with our inaugural ULTIMATE ICON: “Music Dance Visual award and we are thrilled that she chose the BET Awards as the first step on her new road”, said Mr. Hill.

Before accepting her recognition, some of today’s biggest stars will perform a dance tribute in her honor including Ciara, Tinashe and Jason Derulo.

The announcement follows news of the singer’s first studio album in seven years, following 2008’s Discipline. The BET Awards air Sunday, June 28th at 8 p.m. EST.

Janet is the youngest member of the famous Jackson family, who turned into a superstar in her own right. Blige are among the veteran artists nominated for this year’s awards. An inspiration too many other artists, ‘Ms.

This year’s ceremony will also include performances by Chris Brown, Jussie Smolett, Yazz, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Janelle Monae, Anthony Hamilton, Donnie McClurkin, Robin Thicke and Meek Mill.

Kelly Rowland and Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson will also be joining Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan, Laverne Cox, Michael B.
