Yogendra yadav arrested while taking farmers rally to pm s residence
Along with Yadav, around 85 members of his Swaraj Abhiyan were also arrested when police thwarted their planned rally to the Prime Minister’s residence. Meanwhile, expressing disappointment over the detention, former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan said that Yadav had not created any law and order problem but were staging a peaceful protest. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lent his support to Yadav, just a dew days after the two leaders parted ways following a bitter feud. The police said tractors were not allowed on the roads of the capital, said Anupam Singh, spokesperson, Swaraj Abhiyan.
Yogendra Yadav, former Aam Aadmi party leader has been arrested by Delhi cops for protesting at Jantar Mantar, spends a night in police custody. They were also planning a march at the Delhi Race Course.
Yadav along with at least 80 other protestors were formally arrested on Tuesday morning. Last evening they asked to extend for permission, until August 16.
Condemning this act of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote, “I strongly condemn the treatment meted out to Yogendraji by Delhi police. We caught hold of one of them and asked for his identity card but the man started pushing us”.
Bhushan’s colleague and senior counsel Kamini Jaiswal told a bench of Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva that the fundamental rights of people were violated.
Not long ago, Kejriwal had said that “limits were crossed” with reference to the decision to expel Yogendra Yadav from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Mr. Yadav has been leading a farmers’ protest against the government’s proposal to change the way farm land is acquired for infrastructure projects. Yodendra Yadav alleged that he has been beaten up and manhandled by Delhi cops.
