Kylie Jenner courts controversy as snap appears to show her sporting cornrows

Kylie Jenner is either a glutton for punishment, or she was just really unfazed by claims she was appropriating black culture the last time shared a photo of herself wearing cornrows. There also appears to be blond highlights woven in to her edgy cornrow look.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who is now celebrating her 18th birthday in Mexico, showed off her new hairdo in a Snapchat video while another photo is circulating on Twitter.

Kylie returned to her natural style within days – but has since revealed cornrows again.

“Hunger Games” actress, Amandla Stenberg took offense over the hairstyle and slammed Kylie on Instagram on July 11 for what she called “cultural misaaproriation”. Other fans did the same as well, according to The Daily Mail. “Go hang w Jaden or something”, referring to the fact she went to prom with Jaden Smith.

“But saying she’s being racist because she wants her hair in braids is ridiculous. lets focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid lets do something about equality, but it doesn’t start here blasting a 17 year old kid for wearing braids smh [shaking my head] (sic)”.

That level of commitment to variety demands the respect – or maybe just the attention – of a nation.

On her Instagram page, Kylie posted a snap story of her taking a nap with best friend Pia Mia Perez.
