Force Touch coming to the iPhone
The new smartphones from Apple will include a feature that allows reading the pressure applied by users to the touchscreen. It will be interesting to see what commercials Samsung will come up with around then to insult Apple and their new iPhone.
September is set to be an exciting month for Apple fans, as the company is expected to unveil its new operating system and devices. In Apple Watch, Force Touch is used to bring additional controls and helps change the watch face.
Apple’s Force Touch feature is able to make a difference between softer and harder touches and enables developers of applications to add new functions to their programs. Force Touch technology will be present across the screen of the upcoming iPhone, which will offer the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays as the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, respectively. Volume production is “scheduled to ramp up as soon as [July]”, they said.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has started early production of devices, which feature a screen including the “Force Touch” technology introduced by Apple’s Watch. According to its sources in Taiwan’s integrated circuits industry, DigiTimes said Apple is working on touch and display driver integration single-chip solutions for its iPhones.
Most of the sources of rumors have been reliable in the past, but until the actual device is unveiled by Apple, iPhone users will have to be patient. The new phone may also be thicker than previous models in order to accommodate for the Force Touch display. Supply chain problems could occur if a significant number of the new displays do not pass quality assurance testing.
At the time, the original iPhone launched on AT&T’s network only, and it offered US customers a revolutionary multi-touch interface, access to a range of built-in iOS applications, and powerful mobile Internet functionality. By the time the new iPhone comes out, 16 GB of storage may not be enough for what the average Joe needs. The new iPhone is rumored to be available in a new Rose Gold color, to feature a 12MP camera, and perhaps to introduce an upgraded front-facing camera, as well. More than 83% of Apple iPhone users plan to stick with Apple for their next smartphone.
