Huckabee: With abortion, there are two victims
“But let’s not compound the tragedy by taking yet another life”.
When CNN host Dana Bash asked Huckabee if he would have allowed Mainumby to have an abortion, Huckabee responded with a stock answer: “Does it solve the problem by taking the life of an innocent child?” Huckabee said. “And that’s really the issue”.
Huckabee, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker have expressed a desire to ban abortion even in cases when women have been raped, or have been victims of incest.
“When I think about one horror, I think about the possibilities that exist and I don’t want to think that somehow we discount a human life”, Huckabee said. I’m just going to be real clear with you.
The former Arkansas governor opposes the agreement, like almost all his fellow Republicans.
Those same evangelicals formed the core of Huckabee’s support in his 2008 presidential bid, when he won the Iowa caucuses and seven other primaries in states where religious conservatives hold considerable sway.
Mike Huckabee said Sunday he is heading to Israel this week to discuss the prospects of a nuclear deal with Iran that he called “insane”.
He said the trip to the country that he’s visited “dozens and dozens of times” since 1973 will include some fundraising efforts.
The presidential hopeful says the deal would essentially arm and equip a terrorist state.
Huckabee courted controversy this summer when he said President Barack Obama, by agreeing to the deal, is marching Israelis “to the door of the oven”.
“I think it is one of the most unsafe situations that we face, not just for the Middle East but for the rest of the world in a long time”, he said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union“.
