New Apple Magic Mouse And Wireless Keyboard Coming Soon
Apple is planning to refresh its official wireless mouse and keyboard, according to a spilled FCC filing.
As pointed out by 9to5Mac, that’s set to change some time soon. Images accompanying the filings point to the Magic Mouse’s successor to simply be titled “Magic Mouse 2”, but no specific name for the new wireless keyboard has been revealed.
A report says that Apple could introduce Force Touch technology in the mouse, allowing it to become a handy accessory when used with desktop Macs to make use of the new gestures in OS X.
There’s plenty of speculation out there based on sound logic, however. Although it is being speculated that new keys to support iOS 9, may be included on the keyboard and maybe backlit keys although this has not yet been confirmed by any leaked drawings or by Apple officially as yet. Today we’re seeing two wireless devices, on Apple mouse, the other an Apple wireless keyboard.
The internals of both devices will see a notable overhaul in their Bluetooth capabilities, with each device getting a bump from Bluetooth 2.1 to Bluetooth 4.2.
Both are making the jump from Bluetooth 2.0 to the more modern 4.2 standard, and swapping AA batteries for built-in lithium-ion power packs.
The Cupertino firm is said to be holding a product unveiling on September 9, with new iPhone hardware likely to take center stage.
